Aaron Rodgers' honeymoon with the Jets was in danger of imploding as they sat with a 2-5 record but the supposed good news was they were facing the Patriots, who were bottom of the AFC East with a 1-6 record. However, the NFL has a habit of making a mockery of on-paper favorites and cares nothing about reputations.
The Patriots came out with a win and the Jets have now supplanted them as the bottom team in the division. This is not how the day or season was supposed to go but this is where they are.
If there is a small level of comfort that New York fans can derive from this result, it is that Aaron Rodgers did not play poorly and was not the reason they lost. However, the quarterback was brought in to be the reason they won and he has been unable to meet those expectations throughout 2024.
Here is how the four-time MVP fared against New England.

With all the talk about Davante Adams and Garrett Wilson, the quarterback used tight end Tyler Conklin for his first scoring pass of the day. The extra point was missed but it was a good response to the Patriots scoring the first touchdown of the day. The Jets passer got his second touchdown of the first half when he threw to Xavier Gipson.
Aaron Rodgers slowed down in the second half but still led them twice down the field for field-goal attempts. One of them was missed, which proved crucial for the final score. He did lead a drive toward the end of the game which ended with a rushing touchdown by Braelon Allen. However, he missed the two-point attempt after an inexplicable delay of game penalty.
The Patriots, on the other hand, had a touchdown and a two-point conversion following that which gave them a 25-22 lead. In the two-minute warning, Aaron Rodgers tried leading another drive. But Garrett Wilson dropped a catchable ball, which made the next throw harder. The Jets quarterback connected with his receiver but they could not stop the clock to take a field-goal attempt that would have pushed the matchup into overtime.
