The Kansas-born defensive end, Andrew Jared Epenesa is a professional American football player for the Buffalo Bills in the NFL. Epenesa was the 54th pick in the second round of the 2020 NFL draft for the Buffalo Bills. He concluded his rookie season with one sack and 14 tackles. In the 2021 season, he didn’t start a single game and ended the season with two sacks and 14 tackles. He performed better in the 2022 season by recording seven sacks and 16 tackles. In 2023, he scored his first touchdown and recorded seven sacks, 20 tackles and one forced fumble. He extended his contract with the Bills for two more years in 2024.
Epenesa joined the University of Iowa for his collegiate football. After his first season there, he recorded 15 tackles and was named the All-Freshmen Big Ten Conference team. In 2018, he was one of the five finalists for Polynesian Player of the Year. The following season, he was named the Holiday Bowl Defensive Most Valuable Player and was a finalist for the Ted Hendricks Award. After the season, he decided to forgo his senior year to enter the 2020 NFL draft. Epenesa attended Edwardsville High School where he earned honors in track along with football.
