The California-born Guard, Alex Cappa is a professional American football player for the Cincinnati Bengals in the NFL. By being Humboldt State's highest draft selection, Cappa was the 94th pick overall in the third round of the 2018 NFL draft for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Minnesota Vikings received the Buccaneers' fourth and sixth-round selections in the 2018 NFL Draft in return for the Vikings' third-round selection of Cappa. He played in six games during his rookie season. In 2019, he started 13 games but suffered an injury in October. During the Wild Card Round in 2021, Cappa sustained an ankle injury. In 2022, Cappa signed a four-year deal with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Cappa attended Humboldt State University for his collegiate football. He redshirted in 2013. The following season he was named a unanimous First Team All-GNAC selection. He played in 12 games in 2015 and received Collected Don Hansen Honorable Mention All-American honors. In 2016, he played in 11 games. His final year at Humboldt saw him becoming the first player to be named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) offensive lineman of the year for four years in a row. For high school, Cappa was at the Dublin High School where he received First Team All-Diablo Foothill Athletic League honors in 2011.
