Alvin Kamara

Alvin Kamara is an American Football running back for the New Orleans Saints. The 5 ft 10 in back was taken in the third round of the 2017 NFL draft by the Saints with their 67th overall pick. The Atlanta native is a 5 time Pro Bowler and 2-time All-Pro in his seven seasons as a Saint. He was an honorable mention on the top 10 running backs survey done by ESPN in July 2024 where opinions of various executives, scouts, and coaches were asked. The former Rookie of The Year honoree started his collegiate career at Alabama. His time at Alabama was cut short due to a knee surgery in the preseason and “behavioral issues” that caused Kamara to be banned from practicing. Ultimately, he transferred to Hutchinson Community College in Kansas and even became an NJCAA All-American. Eventually, he chose the University of Tennessee to showcase his talents. For Tennessee, he showcased his two-way abilities as he became a fantastic punt returner and pass catcher while also being a premier rushing threat.

His impact since getting drafted was undeniable as he was named to the NFL All-Rookie team in the 2017 season. He also became the first 700/700 (rushing and receiving) season holder by a Saints player ever and third by an NFL rookie. In his sophomore season, Alvin became the first player in NFL history to have 1000 yards, receiving and rushing, in his first 20 games. He had another 700/700 season, earning another Pro Bowl. His stellar play earned him a five-year contract extension worth $75 million in 2020. He became the first player in NFL history to record at least 500 yards rushing and receiving in each of his first four seasons while also becoming the first player in franchise history to be named to the Pro Bowl in each of his first 5 seasons. The 2023 season saw him rush for almost 700 yards while also being a threat in the receiving game (75 receptions for 466 yards).

His outstanding performance earned him the title of Region 7 6A Offensive Player of the Year and a deserved spot on the Class 6A All-State team according to the Georgia Sports Writers Association.

Kamara continued to dominate the field during his senior year with no signs of slowing down as he accumulated 2,264 rushing yards while scoring 26 touchdowns. Additionally, he showcased his receiving prowess by making catches with a total of 69 receptions, for 688 yards and five touchdowns.
