NFL: Alvin Kamara sparks Saints once again against Panthers

Alvin Kamara continues to wreak havoc against opponents. He rushed for 60 yards on nine carries with two touchdowns and also caught five passes for 66 yards in a 31-21 victory for the New Orleans Saints over the Carolina Panthers.

Kamara broke tackles yet again and he is running away with the Offensive Rookie of the Year award race as a result of it. He continues to not be intimidated week in and week out. His backfield buddy Mark Ingram also rushed for 85 yards on 14 carries with a touchdown. He caught six passes for 37 yards receiving.

Kamara scored on a two-yard touchdown run for the Saints in the first quarter. Jonathan Stewart scored on a two-yard touchdown run of his own for the Panthers in the first quarter. He finished with 45 rushing yards on 11 carries and a touchdown.

Ingram scored on a three-yard touchdown run for the Saints in the second quarter. Michael Thomas caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from Drew Brees later in the second. Thomas finished with five receptions for 70 yards and a touchdown. Brees completed 25 of his 34 passes for 269 yards and a touchdown.

Christian McCaffrey then scored on a 21-yard touchdown reception for Carolina in the second. He finished with five receptions for 33 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for 16 yards on six carries.

In the third quarter, Kamara scored again on a 20-yard touchdown run. With Carolina trailing 31-14 in the fourth, Cam Newton threw a 24-yard touchdown pass to Devin Funchess. Funchess caught four passes for 60 yards receiving and a touchdown. Newton completed 17 of his 27 passes for 183 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for 51 yards on six carries.

The Panthers weren't able to recover the onside kick late in the game. The Saints' speed was too much for them to handle throughout the contest. The Panthers (8-4) will host the Minnesota Vikings (10-2) next Sunday and the Saints (9-will travel to face the Atlanta Falcons (7-5) on Thursday night.
