Andy Reid at Super Bowl LIX: Kansas City Chiefs v Philadelphia Eagles

Andy Reid is an American football head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs as of the 2024 NFL season. He has won three Super Bowl titles as the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs and one as an assistant coach for the Green Bay Packers, as of February 2025. He tasted his first success as a Super Bowl Champion when he was an offensive assistant for the Green Bay Packers back in Super Bowl XXXI when the iconic Brett Favre led the Packers to a victory over the New England Patriots.

Reid was born on March 19, 1958, in Los Angeles and attended John Marshall High School before playing offensive tackle at Glendale Community College and Brigham Young University (BYU). After graduating from BYU in 1981, Reid spent a year as a graduate assistant on the school's football staff in 1982. He then served as an offensive line coach at San Francisco State (1983–1985), Northern Arizona (1986), UTEP (1987–1988), and Missouri (1989–1991).

Andy Reid Super Bowl Wins

Reid has won 4 Super Bowl championships as of February 2025 - 3 as head coach and 1 as assistant coach. Following a brief period of various coaching roles including the quarterbacks coach, Reid made his first attempt at being a head coach when the Philadelphia Eagles presented him with the opportunity in 1999 as per his Chiefs profile. His 14-year career in Philadelphia saw him reach the Super Bowl once but this time the Patriots got the better of his side in Super Bowl XXXIX.

Reid would finally achieve his long-time dream of lifting the Lombardi Trophy as a head coach not once but twice now with the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIV and Super Bowl LVII. His fourth Super Bowl win came at the Super Bowl LVIII where the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers in overtime, with a score of 25-22.

Super Bowl LIV

Super Bowl LIV pitted the Kansas City Chiefs against the San Francisco 49ers in Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens, Florida. The first half was a closely fought affair with the Chiefs leading 7-3 at the end of the first quarter. By halftime though both teams trotted to their locker rooms with the game tied at 10-10.

The 49ers then came out in the second half all guns blazing and quickly put up 10 more points to go up 20-10 after the third quarter. After falling behind by ten points and nothing going right for the Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes called the now famous ‘Jet Chip Wasp’ play on third and fifteen completing the iconic pass to Tyreek Hill for a gain of 44 yards. Somehow this play got the Chiefs back in the game as they went on to score 21 unanswered points on their way to a 31-20 victory. This gave Andy Reid his first-ever ring as a head coach.

Super Bowl LVII

This Super Bowl which took place on February 12, 2023, at State Farm Stadium, Glendale, Arizona, gave Reid his second ring as a head coach and third overall. This time Chiefs squared off against Reid’s former team, the Philadelphia Eagles. In the first quarter, both teams had put up a touchdown each but the second quarter belonged to the Eagles as they took a commanding 24-14 lead at the half.

Once again as the Chiefs have done many times in the recent postseason games, they came from behind and executed perfectly in the second half. The Chiefs outscored the Eagles 7-3 in the third quarter and then 17-8 in the fourth quarter to eventually win the game with a score of 38-35. By the end of the game, the Chiefs offensive line had done a commendable job as they did not allow any sacks for the entire game while the Eagles led all teams in the NFL with 70 sacks over the year.

Super Bowl LVIII

The latest Super Bowl which took place on February 11, 2024, at Allegiant Stadium, Paradise, Nevada gave Andy his third Lombardi Trophy as head coach in the last five years. Andy Reid's squad once again faced a familiar foe in the San Francisco 49ers at the biggest stage after getting better of them in SB LIV. The back-and-forth battle between the two teams went into overtime, where once again Mahomes-Reid magic triumphed.
