As things stand, the Commanders will field their starters against the Cowboys on Sunday. Commanders coach Dan Quinn wants his players to carry forward the momentum heading into the playoffs.
“We’re going to go after [it] as hard as we can." Quinn said earlier in the week. "I think the seeding portion of this is really important, and that’s what we discussed as a team. We thought [in Week 17] the vibe was awesome at the game.
“We thought we left some plays out there, and so for us that leveling up as we’re heading into this week with Dallas would be really important. But we recognize having a six seed and going into the playoffs with that is a good thing. And so, we’re going to fight like hell to keep that.”
Hence, Washington's quarterback Jayden Daniels, wideout Terry McLaurin and other key starters will play against Dallas. However, the Commanders will want to secure a sizable lead in the game to replace some of their starters and avoid unnecessary injuries.
The Commanders currently hold the No. 6 seed in the NFC. They can maintain that position for the postseason if they beat the Cowboys on Sunday.
If the Commanders lose against Dallas and the Packers beat the Bears, Washington will drop to the No. 7 seed.
