Arizona Cardinals Playoff History
Arizona Cardinals at the Arizona Cardinals v Green Bay Packers game

Based in the Phoenix metropolitan region, the Arizona Cardinals are a professional American football team. The Cardinals are a team in the National Football Conference (NFC) West division of the National Football League (NFL). State Farm Stadium in Glendale, a suburb northwest of Phoenix, the state capital, is the team's home field.

Both of the Cardinals' NFL titles were won while they were based in Chicago. Supporters of the Pottsville Maroons, the runners-up, contested the first one in 1925. They earned their first championship game victory in 1947, almost two decades before the inaugural Super Bowl. In 1948, they went back to the championship game to defend, but they lost the rematch 7-0 in a snowstorm in Philadelphia.

Arizona Cardinals Playoff Appearances Year-by-Year

The Cardinals have won seven playoff games, including three in the 2008–09 NFL playoffs, and have advanced to the playoffs 11 times, playing 17 games, as of December 2024. They advanced to Super Bowl XLIII in 2009, losing 27–23 to the Pittsburgh Steelers, and won their only NFC Championship Game since the 1970 AFL–NFL merger during that season. Since making it to the NFL championship game in 1947–48, the team has won five division titles (1974, 1975, 2008, 2009, and 2015).

The Cardinals are the only NFL team to never lose a playoff game at home, with a 5-0 record that includes the 1947 NFL Championship Game, two games in the 2008-09 NFL playoffs, one in the 2009-10 playoffs, and one in the 2015-16 playoffs. The Cardinals have three division titles, one NFC championship, and six playoff appearances overall in their 36 seasons since relocating to the Valley of the Sun in 1988.
