The Arizona Cardinals are an American football team based in Arizona that is among the oldest teams in the league’s history. While they’ve gone through a myriad of changes in their name, conference, division, and league, the team remains one of the original NFL franchises. Formed as an independent organization in 1898 called the Morgan Athletic Club, the team would join the NFL in 2020 as a charter member. They remain the oldest continuous team in the entire country and the only team apart from the Chicago Bears to still be a part of the league.

Since 2006, the State Farm Stadium has served as the home base for the team from Arizona. Speaking of success, though, the Cardinals remain among the 12 franchises that are yet to win a Super Bowl as of December 2024. Even though they have won the NFL championship twice, those titles were won long before the NFL-AFL merger and the Super Bowl were invented. The Arizona Cardinals have made 11 playoff appearances and have played a total of 17 playoff games, winning seven and losing ten.

In 1948, they went back to the championship game to defend, but they lost the rematch 7-0 in Philadelphia during a snowstorm.
