The Atlanta Falcons are an American football team based in Atlanta. The team has been a force to reckon with ever since their introduction into the league in 1966 after an offer to Rankin Smith from the NFL to prevent the team from joining the AFL. Since the merger, the Falcons have taken residence in two divisions. While they were initially part of the NFC West from 1970 onwards, they were moved to the Southern division in 2002. Since 2017, the Mercedes-Benz Stadium has been the home for the team, while their practice facility is some distance from Atlanta in Flowery Branch.
