On Monday, the 6-7 Atlanta Falcons traveled to Allegiant Stadium to take on the 2-11 Las Vegas Raiders.
It was a must-win game for the visitors, who trailed the Tampa Buccaneers by 1.5 games in the NFC South title race. The Falcons' only possible path to the playoffs is by winning the division but their destiny is no longer in their hands. They have to win each of their remaining four games and hope the Buccaneers lose at least one of their last three to clinch a postseason berth.
The Raiders have little to play for. They have the worst record in the league and are the favorites to pick first in the 2025 NFL draft. However, the team's top brass, which now includes Tom Brady, will monitor the team closely and evaluate the players and coaching staff's performance before they begin rebuilding the team in the offseason.
The Falcons were heavy favorites to win but the Raiders players and coaching staff had enough on the line to try and pull off an upset. Here's how the game panned out.

Atlanta Falcons vs. Las Vegas Raiders game summary
The game started with a terrible Raiders drive that lasted nearly six minutes and went only 21 yards courtesy of two penalties and a sack. It ended with an Alexander Mattison fumble that the Falcons defense recovered at Las Vegas' 48-yard line. However, Atlanta couldn't capitalize as the Raiders defense stood tall and forced a punt.
The home team's offense went three-and-out and Kirk Cousins got the ball back in his hands and he made it count this time. He led a six-play, 51-yard drive, culminating with a 30-yard touchdown catch by wide receiver Drake London.
Desmond Ridder and the Raiders' offense responded with a slow and methodical 10-play drive that stalled at the Falcons' 33-yard line, forcing the home team to settle for a field goal.
Atlanta's offense embarked on a decent drive and got to Las Vegas' 38-yard line but the defense stopped them in their tracks. Surprisingly, the Falcons opted to take a five-yard penalty and punt the ball from the 43-yard line instead of letting kicker Younghoe Koo attempt a 59-yard pick. It proved to be a stroke of genius.
The Raiders started the drive at their three-yard line and tried to rush their way out of trouble. However, Mattison lost two yards on first down and was tackled in the endzone on second down, leading to a safety and gifting Atlanta two points.
That was the final scoring play of the first half as the Falcons went into the halftime break leading 9-3.
On the first play from scrimmage in the third quarter, Cousins tried to find tight end Charlie Woerner with a pass in the middle of the field but misplaced it and threw it straight into the waiting arms of linebacker Robert Spillane, who picked it off.
The Raiders couldn't capitalize as the offense went three-and-out. The subsequent punt was blocked and Cousins and the Falcons offense started their drive at Las Vegas' 37-yard line.
Atlanta made it to the 22-yard line but couldn't advance any further. They opted to take the points and trotted out Koo for a 40-yard attempt, which he converted easily.
After three drives that ended in punts, the Falcons added to their lead with another Koo field goal, this time from 48 yards out. Midway through the fourth quarter, Ridder, desperate to get his team back in the game, threw a deep pass from inside his team's endzone to wide receiver Jakobi Meyers. However, safety Justin Simmons tracked the throw and picked it off.
The Falcons tried to burn time off the clock and called five straight run plays before giving Koo the chance to add to their lead. However, the kicker missed his 42-yard attempt, keeping the Raiders' hopes of pulling off an upset win alive.
The subsequent drive was Las Vegas' best of the night as they embarked on a 9-play, 68-yard drive, capped off by Ameer Abdullah's catch-and-run for a touchdown.
Las Vegas' defense got Atlanta's offense off the field in just over a minute, leaving Ridder enough time to get the game-winning touchdown. The quarterback led the offense down to the Falcons' 35-yard time, but with only 11 seconds left and no timeouts, it was Hail Mary time for the home team. His first shot fell incomplete but there was enough time on the clock for one more.
Ridder threw it deep in the endzone and the ball was caught, but not by one of his teammates. Safety Jessie Bates picked it off to secure a 15-9 win for his team and keep their playoff dreams alive.
