To end the first half, the Falcons forced another punt, then punished it with a field goal.
The second half began with the Commanders reducing the deficit via a touchdown to Zach Ertz. Then they quickly forced a punt and punished it with a touchdown by Chris Rodriguez Jr.
Needing a strong drive, the Falcons managed to get within the opposing 49 - only for Penix to be sacked and nearly lose possession, causing a punt that was punished with a field goal.

But finally, with just under a hundred seconds left, Penix found Kyle Pitts for six to tie the game. The Falcons then forced another punt, but Riley Patterson missed the potential game-winner, causing overtime.
The Commanders needed just one drive to end the game, with Ertz catching his second touchdown to send the team to the playoffs.
