The Baltimore Ravens are one of the most successful franchises out of all the newest additions the league has made since the 1990s. They have two Lombardis in their trophy cabinet to show for since their inception in 1996. The team has only had 3 coaches ever in their franchise history. The team has played in the AFC North since coming into the league and has won the division seven times in almost 3 decades of its existence.
The Evolution of the Baltimore Ravens Logo
The team came into existence because Art Modell, the owner of the Ravens at the time, moved the team from Cleveland to Baltimore. However, he was not allowed to take the team’s name and history along with him. So, the Ravens were technically an expansion team. The team name came from the famous poem that Baltimore native Edgar Allan Poe wrote which was titled ‘The Raven’. The team has only had two primary logos as of July 2024.
1996 - 1998 - Old Logo
The first logo was a flying shield with a gold front under the wordmark ‘RAVENS’. A cross-buttony type design is used at the bottom of the shield. Between the wordmark and cross design was a large B which had wings on it. The B had a purple and black color palette with a white outline. The shield also had a thick purple outline. On both sides of the shield were wings which are primarily black with purple and white added into the mix.
1999 - Present - Current Logo
The previous logo had to be changed due to Baltimore losing the court battle against an artist. So, the team came up with a new logo which had a raven in profile. The bird is facing to the right and is purple in color with a white beak. The raven's eyes are red in color and have black around them. The whole bird has thick black and gold outlines.
Baltimore Ravens Alternative Symbols
The Ravens introduced secondary and tertiary logos along with primary ones in 1999. One logo has a raven facing the front. The raven has a black and purple color palette with red eyes and a white beak. The whole logo is outlined in white and gold.
The other emblem is a heraldic shield with B and R in it The logo has purple and an outline and the shield has black and gold as the main base color. The ‘RAVENS’ wordmark is written at the top. One other alternate logo is a B in gold with a purple outline.

Baltimore has only used two different helmets as the primary ones. Since the rule allowed the use of more than one helmet, the Ravens have come out with an alternate one.
1996 - 1998 - Old Helmet
The Ravens have always used a black and purple color palette when it comes to their helmets. This helmet had black as the primary color with two purple lines going up the middle. Both sides of the helmet had a flying B logo on it.
1999 - Present - Current Helmet
The only change made to the current helmet was the logo. Instead of the old logo, a new raven in a profile one was pasted on both sides of the helmet.
Alternate Helmets
The Ravens have only introduced one alternate helmet in franchise history which they will be wearing for the upcoming 2024 season.
2024
