Growing up in Ohio, Roethlisberger was exposed to sports from a very young age. This exposure set up the foundation for a career pathway into football. Over his three-year duration with the Miami University football team, he recorded 10,829 passing yards, 80 touchdown passes, 354 rushing yards and 7 rushing touchdowns. He broke many records and honors during his time in college and also had his number retired in 2007. He is only the third athlete in Miami University’s history to have his jersey number retired. He holds NCAA records for most games in a single season with above 200 passing yards and most consecutive games in a season with over 200 passing yards.

Roethlisberger was drafted as the 11th overall pick in the first round in the NFL draft of 2004 by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Over the years, the Steelers would come to be the only team that Roethlisberger has ever played for throughout his awe-inspiring NFL career.
