The Washington Commanders selected Ben Sinnott with the 53rd overall pick in the second round of the 2024 NFL draft. The franchise entered the offseason with many holes to address on their roster, so using a premium pick on a tight end is interesting. They didn't necessarily need an upgrade at the position, so they must value his skillset highly.

This situation makes Sinnott an interesting target in fantasy football this year, though rookies often carry more risk than most other players. Playing time may be a potential obstacle for the prospect, but if he can overcome it, he carries plenty of upside into the 2024 season and beyond.

Ben Sinnott spent all three seasons of his college football career with the Kansas State Wildcats. After failing to carve out much of a role for himself in his first year, he served as a key part of their offense for each of his final two collegiate seasons. During that span, he totaled 80 receptions for 1,123 yards and 10 touchdowns on his way to becoming one of the most coveted tight end prospects.

He ended up being the second player selected from his position in this year's draft class, after only Brock Bowers, when the Washington Commanders made a bold move to take in the second round. He potentially adds another weapon for rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, who they selected with the second-overall pick.

The biggest challenge to Sinnott's fantasy outlook this year is the presence of Zach Ertz, who is currently listed as their starting tight end. The veteran has consistently contributed to every team he has played for, so it will be interesting to see what kind of workload the rookie receives. If he can carve out a large enough role, he could be a sleeper in fantasy football.

Where should you draft Ben Sinnott this year?

Ben Sinnott is an excellent tight end to target in the mid-rounds of Dynasty Fantasy Football leagues for the 2024 NFL season. His rookie status helps his overall value in this format, as he is expected to be their starting tight end in the future. He is a bit more risky in traditional season-long leagues due to the presence of Zach Ertz, but he is still a solid late-round flier with upside.
