Bijan Robinson was one of the most highly anticipated rookie running backs ever last year in his debut season with the Atlanta Falcons. He was selected in the first round of many fantasy football drafts due to his elite upside and dual-threat skillset. While Tyler Allgeier stole some of his workload, he still turned in an impressive campaign.
Robinson's stats included 976 rushing yards, 487 receiving yards, and eight total touchdowns last season across 17 games. His workload also increased as the year went on. Four of his five games where he had at least 15 carries all came in the second half of the season. With a new head coach and offensive system in 2024, Robinson is expected to be a featured player for the Atlanta Falcons.
The addition of Kirk Cousins at quarterback could also help the second-year running back's fantasy outlook. Cousins should improve their offense as a whole, creating more scoring opportunities for Robinson. This could significantly improve his season totals, especially considering he posted just one multi-touchdown game during his rookie year.
All of this equates to Robinson being one of the best overall players to target during 2024 fantasy football drafts. His situation suggests another step forward, and considering he was already highly productive last year, he has some of the highest upside of any running back.
Is Bijan Robinson a good pick in Fantasy Football this year?
Not many players, regardless of position, make for a better pick than Bijan Robinson in the first round of fantasy football drafts for the 2024 NFL season. In a rookie year where his usage was frustrating at times, he still finished as the overall RB9 in season-long scoring. His situation entering Year 2 is seemingly much better, giving him RB1 ceiling this season.
Head coach Arthur Smith utilized questionable game plans at times last season, as he appeared to be limiting the overall workload of the elite talented rookie. Robinson exceeded 20 carries in just one game last season, despite appearing in all 17 games for the Falcons. The good news for fantasy managers is that Smith is no longer in charge, as he was replaced by Raheem Morris during the offseason.
With new leadership in Atlanta, including quarterback Kirk Cousins, many around the NFL are expecting Robinson to be fully unleashed. The prime of a running back's career often comes earlier than players in other positions, which further suggests that he could be in line for a major breakout year. He clearly has the talent, so if he gets the workload, his potential output is uncapped.
Managers targeting Robinson in their fantasy drafts will probably need to pick him in the first round. He is unlikely to last into Round 2 as he makes for a safer pick than almost any other player.
Bijan Robinson ADP: Where should you draft Falcons RB this year?
According to Sportskeeda's Who Should I Draft tool, Bijan Robinson is the third-best player to target in fantasy football drafts this year. Only Christian McCaffrey and CeeDee Lamb have higher season-long projections than the Falcons RB in 2024.
When it comes to his current ADP, Robinson ranks as the sixth-overall player and third running back, also trailing Tyreek Hill, Breece Hall and Justin Jefferson. If he is available in the middle of the first round like his ADP suggests, he could be an absolute steal.
Robinson ranks as RB3 in our 2024 Fantasy Football RB rankings.
