The NFL landscape has been partly marked by Bill Belichick's dominance over the New York Jets. His career record against Gang Green stands at an eye-popping 39-12, including playoff matches—the most wins by any coach against a single team in the Super Bowl era.

This rivalry runs deeper than mere statistics. No current Jets player has experienced a victory against Belichick in a Jets uniform. The last successful moment came on December 27, 2015, when Ryan Fitzpatrick connected with Eric Decker for a touchdown pass in overtime.

Bill Belichick previously served as the Jets' defensive coordinator from 1997 to 1999, positioned to succeed head coach Bill Parcells. But in a dramatic twist, he resigned during his introductory press conference—a decision he communicated to team brass on a napkin.

Belichick quit, partly because he reportedly didn't want to work for new owner Woody Johnson. He sued to exit his Jets contract, ultimately being traded to the New England Patriots.

Under Belichick, the Patriots compiled a 266-121 record and won six Super Bowls. The Jets, meanwhile, have been left in his wake, struggling to overcome the shadow of his coaching legacy.

In a surprising development, sources confirmed that Bill Belichick—now 72—recently reached out to the Jets about their head coaching position. This came after the team fired Robert Saleh following a 2-3 start to the season.

Belichick, who was critical of Johnson for firing Saleh just five games into the season, expressed interest in the very team he dramatically left decades ago. However, no formal discussions allegedly occurred.

The Jets are 1-7 under interim coach Jeff Ulbrich which could end with the HC position being up for grabs by the end of the season.

The complicated history between Belichick and the Jets includes the infamous Spygate scandal in 2007 when the Jets exposed Belichick for illegally videotaping their coaches.

Now heading to coach the University of North Carolina, Belichick might never cross paths with the Jets in his career again.
