Birmingham Stallions vs. Houston Roughnecks game summary

Stallions quarterback Adrian Martinez was the star of the show. The signal-caller completed 19-of-31 passes for 173 yards with three touchdowns. He threw one interception and ran six times for 44 yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Roughnecks quarterback Nolan Henderson made nine-of-14 passes for 97 yards. He also added 34 rushing yards and scored a touchdown on the ground. Houston introduced signal-caller Reid Sinnett to split time with Henderson and he finished with 107 total yards and a touchdown. Roughnecks running back Mark Thompson scored twice and finished with 54 yards on 11 rushing attempts.

While speaking to reporters after the game, Birmingham coach Skip Holtz said his team was fortunate in some parts of the contest but was happy with the overall offensive display.

“You can be in a tie game and if you can score before half and you can score at the beginning of the third quarter, you’re up 14 points when they get their opportunity to go back on offense. I thought that was huge." Holtz said.
"We were fortunate. They jumped offside when we were trying to punt it and that gave us the first down. That gave us another opportunity to get going again. And so I thought the offense made some really nice plays.” Holtz added.

The Birmingham Stallions have already secured the No. 1 seed for the playoffs and will want to continue their stellar run when they travel to face the San Antonio Brahmas in Week 9.

The Roughnecks, on the other hand, are out of the playoff hunt. They will host the Michigan Panthers in their next game.
