Bo Nix stats tonight: Broncos QB's passing yards, touchdowns and more in Week 16 TNF - Source: Imagn

On Thursday night, Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos traveled to SoFi Stadium to take on the Los Angeles Chargers in an AFC West division battle. The visitors came into the game on a hot streak. They had won four straight games and improved to 9-5, confirming they'd finish the season with a winning record for the first time since the 2016 campaign.

The key to their success has been the improvement on offense, led by Nix. The rookie has been adequate, which may not sound much but was exactly what the Broncos needed after years of dismal production from the quarterback production. Coming into the game, he had 2,972 passing yards, 20 touchdown passes, and 11 interceptions.

Nix earned head coach Sean Payton's trust, who has allowed him to sling passes when needed. The Broncos were banking on the quarterback to deliver a massive performance on Thursday night against the Chargers and end the franchise's nine-year wait for a playoff appearance.

Bo Nix stats vs. Chargers on TNF in Week 16

Here's how Bo Nix fared in the Denver Broncos' 34-27 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday Night Football:

  • Completions: 29
  • Pass Attempts: 40
  • Passing Yards: 263
  • Touchdown Passes: 2
  • Interceptions: 0
  • Rush Attempts: 3
  • Rushing Yards: 25
  • Rushing Touchdowns: 0

The rookie quarterback had a terrific first half. He rushed thrice for 25 yards and completed 15 of his 21 pass attempts for 155 yards and two touchdowns. His first was a one-yard pass to fullback Michael Burton that saw the Broncos take a 14-7 lead.

His second was a perfect six-yard dime to the wide receiver Devaughn Vele in the endzone that extended his team's lead to 11 points in the second quarter.

Nix wasn't poor in the second half, but he wasn't as effective. He had no rushing yards in the third or fourth quarter. He completed 14 of his 19 pass attempts, but they netted only 108 yards.

The Broncos struggling to move the ball downfield coupled with the Chargers scoring three touchdowns in their first four drives of the second half meant they left SoFi Stadium with a loss.

They can still clinch a playoff berth with an Indianapolis Colts loss to the Tennessee Titans on Sunday or a win in one of their two remaining games. However, given how well Bo Nix played in the first half, head coach Sean Payton will feel his team blew an opportunity to seal their playoff berth.
