Braelon Allen was selected by the New York Jets in the 2024 NFL Draft to add depth to their running back position. He entered the season with minimal fantasy football value, but after a breakout performance in Week 2, he has significantly brightened his outlook. He is now a legitimate option for many managers on the Week 3 waiver wire.

Finding valuable targets on the waiver wire each week is one of the best ways to improve the overall construction of any fantasy football roster. Identifying targets is often based on their recent individual performances and projected team roles going forward. When it comes to rookie Allen, he broke out last week and may have earned a larger workload for the New York Jets.

Despite receiving just nine touches in Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans, Allen scored two touchdowns and totaled 56 scrimmage yards. While Breece Hall is firmly locked in as the Jets' RB1, the rookie may have earned himself additional touches in their offense. He makes for a solid addition from the Week 3 waiver wire for managers seeking more depth to their running backs.

Braelon Allen fantasy outlook for 2024 NFL season

Breece Hall has been a workhorse for the New York Jets during his career so far, but their offensive philosophy suggests that Allen still has an opportunity to be involved in their gameplan. They heavily feature their running backs in both the ground game and passing attack, so plenty of touches are available.

Allen played in just 18% of the offensive snaps and received two touches in Week 1, but increased both of those totals to 35% of the snpas and nine touches in his second game. The additional work resulted in two touchdowns, so the Jets may continue to get him more involved. This gives him plenty of upside for the remainder of the 2024 fantasy football season.

Is Braelon Allen a good waiver wire pickup in fantasy football?

After his solid Week 2 performance, Allen makes for one of the top running backs to target on the Week 3 Waiver Wire. While the presence of Hall limits his upside a bit, his dynamic skillset as a rusher and receiver should give him enough opportunities to make an impact.

The breakout running back joins another rookie in Carson Steele as the best players to target on the waiver wire this week from their position. Building a winning roster is a season-long process of finding high-upside options and Allen can help many managers improve their team.
