The San Francisco 49ers are in a precarious situation. They do not have Christian McCaffrey and his dual-threat abilities, and now they will be missing one of their top wideouts in Brandon Aiyuk after he tore his ACL and MCL during Sunday's loss against the Kansas City Chiefs.
With the trade deadline two weeks away, coach Kyle Shanahan and General Manager John Lynch are scrambling to find a receiving partner for Deebo Samuel and Jauan Jennings.
Here are five wide receivers the 49ers should look to trade for before the deadline.

#5. Tim Jones
Tim Jones has been an afterthought for the Jacksonville Jaguars since he signed as a UDFA in 2021. He managed to make the roster as a sophomore but was soon eclipsed by Christian Kirk and Zay Jones. Nowadays, he is languishing behind Kirk, Brian Thomas, Gabe Davis and Devin Duvernay.
Putting him in Santa Clara may not immediately solve his issues with playing time, but Shanahan is a crafty coach. Look at what he did with Ricky Pearsall. Perhaps he can start as a returner/special teamer and then work his way up there.
#4. Robert Woods
Here is someone the 49ers should know very well.
For five seasons, Robert Woods was a bane for Shanahan and Lynch, constantly burning defenders with catches and yards as a Los Angeles Ram. He has not been the same player since then, but he can still be a serviceable backup option, as he has shown with the Houston Texans, even catching the occasional punt.
#3. Elijah Moore
The Cleveland Browns seem set to break up their playoff core.
Amari Cooper is now a Buffalo Bill. Deshaun Watson is at risk of being cut. And Elijah Moore will be a free agent at the end of the season.
Now is the time for Kevin Stefanski and Andrew Berry to get some capital for a rebuild, and that could start by sending their WR2 to San Francisco.
#2. Adam Thielen
Adam Thelen was one of the few bright spots of the 2023 Carolina Panthers, hitting 100 receptions and 1,000 yards for the first time since 2018. But an injury has kept him off the field since Week 3, and he finds himself in a precarious situation when he returns.
Diontae Johnson is there, and so is Xavier Legette. Jonathan Mingo, while disappointing so far, still has time to improve. And that makes him the "old man" out.
Both he and the 49ers want to return to winning ways, and there may be no better way for them to achieve such goals than a trade.
#1. Mike Williams
When Mike Williams joined the New York Jets in the offseason, he was expected to be a top target for Aaron Rodgers alongside Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard. Safe to say, he has failed to meet those expectations.
His fourth-quarter stumble against the Buffalo Bills with the AFC East on the line prompted Joe Douglas to trade for Davante Adams – a monstrous upgrade in almost every aspect. No wonder why he is being shopped around now.
Still, he was not the Jets' WR2 without reason; and he could fulfill a similar role in the other end of California.
