Ever since Aaron Rodgers was traded to the New York Jets, there have been constant rumors about a potential reunion of the quarterback with Davante Adams. The superstar wide receiver signed a five-year, $140 million contract extension with the Raiders in 2022, but so far, his two seasons with them have been far from ideal.
Firstly, the Raiders released Derek Carr, one of Adams' closest friends and the biggest reason why he joined the franchise in the first place. Later, the team brought in Jimmy Garoppolo as their new quarterback, with whom the 31-year-old receiver visibly had chemistry issues, as was evident in Netflix's 'Receiver' show.
The team did make Antonio Pierce their permanent head coach this offseason, which Adams would have liked, but that doesn't mean he will stay with them. All signs point to a possible trade for the six-time Pro Bowler, as the Raiders are looking to free up cap space, and the New York Jets seem like the only destination for Adams.

But the biggest question remains: Will the Jets be able to afford Adams' contract? Let's look at all the details around the receiver's contract and salary going forward.
Davante Adams' contract and salary details
As per Spotrac, Davante Adams will earn a base salary of $36.25 million in 2025 and 2026, the last two years of his current five-year deal with the Raiders. Moreover, if he gets traded this offseason, then the team that Adams joins will pay him $17.25 million of this year's salary.
His current contract positions him to leave the Raiders this year and presents the Jets with a great opportunity to pair the veteran wideout with Aaron Rodgers and Garrett Wilson. The Jets currently have only $6.09 million in cap space, but they can make moves and restructure other players' contracts to afford Adams.
The Jets have bolstered their offensive line with the additions of Tyron Smith, Morgan Moses, and John Simpson in the offseason. They also drafted top offensive line prospect Olu Fashanu, and adding a player like Davante Adams will position them to be one of the best teams in the NFL.
Aaron Rodgers is fully healthy and ready to play in Week 1, and the franchise would not want to waste their best opportunity of making the Super Bowl. As a result, expect the AFC East franchise to be aggressive in their efforts to land the Raiders star in the upcoming months.
Adams played eight seasons with Rodgers as his quarterback and had 622 receptions for 7,590 yards and 69 touchdowns in 108 games during that span. (StatMuse)
