Brenton Strange enjoyed a fairly decent campaign with the Penn State Nittany Lions last season. The tight end will now be hoping to hear his name called out at the 2023 NFL draft.

There is stiff competition among the tight ends this year and hence, many analysts expect Strange to get selected in the sixth round of the draft. He is unlikely to be picked ahead of Dalton Kincaid, Darnell Washington, Michael Mayer, Luke Musgrave, Sam LaPorta and Tucker Kraft.

At the NFL Combine, Strange completed his 40-yard dash in 4.70 seconds (9th among TEs). He also produced a 1.57-second 10-yard split (tied for 2nd among TEs), which would have boosted his draft stock.

The Penn State product is a versatile tight end and has the ability to get in and out of his routes quickly. At 6-foot-4 and 253 pounds, Strange also has the stature to ride challenges from the opposition defense. More so, he is versatile and can contribute to the passing and running game.

According to reports, the Los Angeles Rams have been linked with a move for Strange. The 2022 Super Bowl winners had one of the worst title defenses in the history of the league and ended up with a third-place finish in the NFC West with a 5-12 record.

However, Sean McVay will be looking at potential prospects in the draft to make a push for the playoffs next season. The Rams head coach might consider Strange as an option because he prefers to have tight ends that can contribute to the passing and running game.

How did Brenton Strange fare in the 2022 season?

Brenton Strange finished the 2022 season with 362 yards and five touchdowns on 32 receptions across 13 games. He helped the Penn State Nittany Lions to a third-place finish in the Big 10 East with an 11-2 record.

Although his stats weren't among the best tight ends in the current draft pool, Strange will certainly be in the hat for selection. It will be interesting to see where he lands for the 2023 NFL season.
