Brenton Strange waiver wire Week 6

Brenton Strange has been having a breakout 2024 fantasy football season so far with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He currently ranks as the overall TE13, despite opening the year as a backup. He has capitalized on his opportunities for more playing time and has now become a legitimate target on the waiver wire as Week 6 approaches.

Should you add Jaguars TE Brenton Strange in Week 6 Waiver Wire?

Evan Engram has been out with a hamstring injury for each of the Jacksonville Jaguars' past four games. This has opened the door for Brenton Strange to take over as their starting end. He has responded in a big way, finishing among the top 10 weekly fantasy football tight ends in three of those games and scoring two touchdowns along the way.

It's unclear when exactly Engram will be cleared to return for the Jaguars, but for as long as he as out, Strange has clearly proven that he deserves to be rostered in all formats.

In leagues where he is still available on the waiver wire, managers in need of help at tight end would be wise to add him. He makes for a strong option in weekly lineups for as long as he is the starter, and potentially beyond that as well.

Brenton Strange fantasy outlook for 2024 NFL season

Brenton Strange joined the Jacksonville Jaguars last year and served as depth piece for their tight end position. He was lightly used in his first season, totaling just five receptions on nine targets for 35 yards and a touchdown for the entire year. This kept him off the radar in 2024 fantasy football drafts, but his situation has drastically changed entering Week 6.

The young tight end has proven his overall potential across his four games this season that he has been serving as the Jaguars' TE1. Despite failing to record a reception in the first game, he still ranks as the overall TE13 in season-long scoring for fantasy football. In fact, his three weekly finishes of TE9 or better proves that he has been a legitimate option for starting lineups.

Strange's strong season so far may have earned him a larger workload going forward, but it's unlcear what will happen to his offensive role when Evan Engram eventually returns from his hamstring injury. At the very least, he is still worth being rostered for now and then his fantasy value can be re-evaluated later.
