While Schottenheimer served as a coaching consultant in Dallas this past year, he has several years of coaching experience in the NFL. Here, we take a look at the many teams that the new Cowboys offensive coordinator has been a part of in his career.

Schottenheimer began his NFL coaching journey as an assistant coach with the St. Louis Rams, now the Los Angeles Rams, in 1997. He then took up a similar role with the Kansas City Chiefs the following year.

In 2006, Schottenheimer joined the New York Jets as the team's offensive coordinator. He spent six years with the team before taking over as the offensive coordinator for the St. Louis Rams in 2012. He stayed with the team for three seasons.

He was also the quarterbacks coach for the Indianapolis Colts from 2016-17. Schottenheimer then spent three seasons as the Seattle Seahawks' offensive coordinator from 2018 to 2020.

He helped the Seahawks make three consecutive postseason appearances. Moreover, in 2020, he helped them set the franchise record for points scored (459).

Before joining the Cowboys, Schottenheimer was the passing game coordinator for the Jacksonville Jaguars during the 2021 season.

Brian Schottenheimer has a 172-180-1 record as a coach in the NFL. He has a 5-7 record in postseason games.

In total, he has 22 years of NFL coaching experience and 12 years as an offensive coordinator at the pro level.

The new Dallas offensive coordinator is expected to play an important role for the team in the near future. The Cowboys are yet to win a Super Bowl since their triumph in 1996 and team owner Jerry Jones is eager to end his team's drought for glory.

However, in order to challenge for the Super Bowl, Dallas needs to focus on strengthening their offensive displays in the playoffs. This is where Schottenheimer will have to lend his input.
