San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy became Mr. Irrelevant as the rookie quarterback was taken with the last pick by the team in the 2022 NFL draft.
He entered the season as the third-string quarterback behind second-year QB Trey Lance and veteran Jimmy Garoppolo.
Fast forward to Week 14 of the season, and Purdy made his first career start.

How much does Brock Purdy make?
As he's making big-time plays in big moments in big games, Brock Purdy isn't quite getting paid big money. Not only is he playing on a rookie contract, but he's basically playing on an undrafted free agent's contract as he was the last man drafted in the seventh round.
According to spotrac.com, Purdy signed a four-year, $3.7 million rookie contract with the team. He has a cap hit of just $724,000 this season with a yearly cash total of $782,008. He will reach cap hits of $889,000 in 2023, $1.004 million in 2024 and $1.1 million in 2025. He is set to become an unrestricted free agent in 2026.
Here are the terms of his current contract:
Upon becoming a free agent in 2026 (if he hits the market), Purdy would expect to get paid more, especially if he sees more success in the opportunities he's given while other QBs are hurt.
Brock Purdy is questionable ahead of the 49ers Thursday Night game vs. Seattle Seahawks
Brock Purdy's second career start may be put on hold. The rookie quarterback is questionable for Thursday Night's matchup vs. NFC-West foe, the Seattle Seahawks, as he's been a limited participant in practice this week.
Purdy is currently dealing with an oblique/rib injury. He believes he suffered the injury early on in the game when he got hit as he threw a touchdown pass to running back Christian McCaffrey in the second quarter of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers game.
The 49ers are hopeful that he's good to go tonight. Purdy took over as the team's starting quarterback in Week 13 when Garoppolo went down with a foot injury that will keep him out of the rest of the regular season.
Purdy stepped in to defeat the Miami Dolphins, while throwing for two touchdowns and 210 yards.
He got his first career start last week vs. Tom Brady and the Bucccaneers. He helped lead them to a 35-7 blowout, accounting for three total touchdowns.
If Purdy is unable to make it tonight, veteran QB Josh Johnson will get the start.
