The Denver Broncos are currently in the closing stages of what has been, so far, a disappointing first season with Russell Wilson under center. The Broncos gave up a king's ransom to trade for Wilson from the Seattle Seahawks, a haul that now looks laughable.
To further add salt to Denver's wounds, Russell Wilson will sit out tonight's game against the Arizona Cardinals. Wilson left his side's last game against the Kansas City Chiefs with a concussion. He has since cleared the concussion protocols, but will still be sitting out the Cardinals as a precaution.

In Wilson's place, you can expect Brett Rypien to continue taking snaps at center for Denver. Rypien has spent his entire NFL career as a backup player for Denver, always ready to take snaps if the starter is unavailable. He will be holding forth for the time being and you can expect the Boise State University alum to see more action as the season ends.

Denver could also write off their 2022 NFL campaign, as this season is the first in the Russell Wilson experience. Wilson signed a five-year contract with the Broncos after he was traded to the franchise. As such, the Denver faithful should strap their seats for the ride.
How is Brett Rypien performing this season as the Denver Broncos' starting quarterback?
Brett Rypien is having a decent 2022 NFL season as a backup to possible Hall of Famer Russell Wilson. Rypien has seen action sporadically all season long. The Boise State University alum has racked up a stat line of 241 passing yards, one passing touchdown, and two interceptions this year.
With Courtland Sutton injured, the backup will have to make the most of Jerry Jeudy and Greg Dulcich in the receiving corps. The quarterback also doesn't have much of a running game to rely on, with Latavius Murray and Marlon Mack as the top features in the backfield.
Nonetheless, as the new starter for the time being, Rypien will have plenty of opportunities to prove himself.
