Bucky Irving or Braelon Allen: Who should I start in Week 4 Fantasy Football? 

It's been an intriguing season so far, fantasy-wise. Given the laundry list of injuries to fantasy studs like Christian McCaffrey and Cooper Kupp, we've been forced to switch to plans B, C, D and even E on some occasions. But if you've been keeping an eye on Sportskeeda's waiver wire recommendations you'd know we've been singing the praises of Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Bucky Irving and New York Jets rookie Braelon Allen for some time now.

With Week 4 already off to a pretty decent start, what does fantasy football hold for Irving and Allen?

Bucky Irving fantasy outlook for Week 4

In Week 3 against the Denver Broncos, Irving had his best statistical outing, rushing nine times for 70 yards. He also caught three passes for 14 yards.

Those were decent numbers considering Irving saw just 32% of snaps as compared to RB1 Rachaad White's 74%. Head coach Todd Bowles had an explanation for the lopsided share, telling reporters that the Bucs were looking to protect the ball in what was eventually a 26-7 loss to Denver.

The good news is that Bowles said White has earned more snaps and we are likely to see White's snaps reduce as a result. The bad news is that Irving is nursing a hamstring injury and did not practice on Thursday after being a limited participant on Wednesday.

Given it's a hamstring injury, Irving is trending in the wrong direction and faces a race to be fit for Week 4 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Braelon Allen fantasy outlook for Week 4

If you, like us, initially thought that the Jets rookie would find it difficult to see any game time with a fully healthy Breece Hall, you'd be forgiven. We live and we learn.

After three weeks of football, it's clear that the Jets don't see Braelon Allen's ceiling merely as a handcuff to Hall. The rookie running back had two touchdowns in Week 2 and followed that up by turning 14 touches into 55 rushing yards and three catches for 13 receiving yards.

Those are efficient numbers although he played just 32% of snaps. He also had more touches than Hall in the Week 3 beatdown of the Patriots, but we can probably chalk that down to the Jets having the game well in control.

The bottom line is Allen looks explosive and there's a lot to like about his game, not just from a fantasy football perspective. And if Hall were to go down with an injury at any point this season, Allen is primed to step right up and take over.

Sportskeeda's Who Should I Start analyzer is marginally higher on Irving this week but this is where the Bucs RB's hamstring injury comes into play. A hamstring injury can be very restrictive and it's also likely that we just won't see Irving take the field on Sunday.
