Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie running back Bucky Irving appeared on the injury report this week with a hamstring problem after participating in just a limited amount of practice on Wednesday.

More uncertainty looms around the former Oregon RB's availability for Week 4 after it was announced on Thursday that he has been downgraded to DNP on the injury report.

As per new reports by Adam Schefter, Irving is expected to play against the Eagles.

Bucky Irving's injury news came in as a big surprise

Bucky Irving did not appear to be injured during the Buccaneers' Week 3 game against the Denver Broncos, so it was unexpected to see him included on the team's injury report on Wednesday.

Irving did not practice on Thursday after he was limited in practice the previous day. The precise severity of it is currently unknown, though.

According to Buccaneers Insider Scott Smith, Irving stated on Thursday that he feels "pretty great" and is optimistic about his chances of playing on Sunday against the Eagles.

He didn't provide much information about the events that led to his injury, but it's possible that he suffered the injury during Wednesday's practice.

Fantasy managers can take some comfort in Irving's belief that he will play in Week 4, but it's still critical to monitor his performance at Friday's practice. This will probably reveal whether he is carrying injury woes into the contest.

Since he has been Tampa Bay's most effective running back thus far this season, it would be devastating if the RB is sidelined for Sunday's game against the Eagles.

Although Rachaad White is still the Buccaneers' starting RB1, head coach Todd Bowles stated on Monday that Irving has earned a larger workload following his strong performance last weekend.

Bucky Irving played 32 percent of the offensive snaps in the Broncos' 26-7 loss last Sunday, hauling in nine rushes for 70 yards and three receptions for 14 yards.

For the sake of comparison, White played 73 percent of offensive snaps in that contest; yet, he gained one fewer touch and three fewer rushes than Irving, which sparked rumors that the rookie might eventually replace White.
