The Arizona Cardinals have been terrible this campaign, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have to win their next three games to get back on track. Arizona's season has come to an ugly end, as they are far below the pace and have already been eliminated from the postseason.
With 26.6 points allowed per game, Arizona's secondary has the unpleasant status of being the worst in the league. The situation worsens when you consider that their offensive unit averages less than 21 points per game.
Two players to look out for in tonight's games
Tom Brady
Tom Brady has thrown for 3,897 yards and 20 touchdowns on 66% of his attempts. This is the first time in his professional career that the seven-time Super Bowl winner will be playing on Christmas Day. Despite losing two straight games and dropping two games below .500, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers still hold the top position in the NFC South.
Brady has tossed five interceptions in the past three games and had four turnovers in last week's defeat to the Cincinnati Bengals. He is just one victory away from being the footballer in league history with 250 wins during the regular season. Additionally, he needs just one loss to end the regular season with a losing record for the first time.
Trace McSorley
After Colt McCoy was injured, the Cardinals are now reduced to third-string quarterback Trace McSorley. Trace McSorley isn't a rookie in the NFL, but this will be his first opportunity to be a starting QB in a regular-season game.
At the esteemed Penn State University, McSorley remains the holder of multiple records, notably passing yards, passing touchdowns in a single season, and overall yards in his collegiate football career. It will be intriguing to see what he can bring to the NFL and this Cardinals team specifically.
Regarding the possibility of competing against Brady, McSorley remarked, "He's the GOAT; there's no other way to put it. But I'm taking on their defense rather than him."
On Sunday, McSorley will make his first start of the regular season, Brady's 331st start overall.
