Buffalo Bills vs. Kansas City Chiefs: Box score, player stats, and game summary feat. Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes
This was it - the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs meeting in the playoffs for the fourth time in five seasons in this decade, and just the second time in the AFC Championship Game.
Ad
Patrick Mahomes was coming off posting the worst passing performance of his career - only 3,928 yards and 26 touchdowns from 392 completions. But that did not matter, as his team went 15-2 to dominate the AFC and clinch the top seed and first-round bye.
Meanwhile, Josh Allen's team was thought to be on the downswing after losing multiple contributors, like wide receiver Stefon Diggs and the deadly safety tandem of Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde. But they instead continued being one of the elites thanks to running back James Cook and a revamped secondary.

Buffalo Bills vs. Kansas City Chiefs game summary
The opening drive of the game was marred by near-interceptions that led to a punt, which Kareem Hunt punished with a touchdown rush. The Bills managed to enter opposing territory on their second drive, but they stalled at the 35 and had to settle for a field goal.
However, they got a major break within the final minute of the first quarter, when Patrick Mahomes dropped a snap, allowing Ed Oliver to steal the ball. James Cook then turned it into a lead-grabbing touchdown rush in the second quarter.

The Chiefs would eventually respond via Mahomes finding Xavier Worthy, who dove to the pylon for six:

Then they forced a three-and-out, and Nikko Remigio returned deep into opposing territory, allowing Mahomes to set up what would eventually become a punitive touchdown rush by him.
The Bills ended the first half with a deep strike by Josh Allen to Mack Hollins - but the two-pointer failed:

The second half began with the Chefs punting while inside opposing territory, which Cook punished with a lead-grabbing touchdown rush - only for the two-point attempt to fail again.
The Bills then forced a second straight punt, then got a boost when Charles Omenihu was caught illegally using his hands - only to fail to gain significant ground and commit a turnover on downs to begin the fourth quarter.
And they would be punished for it with a rushing touchdown by Mahomes - complete with a two-pointer:

But Allen responded by finding Curtis Samuel on fourth down - and this time, the Bills took the hint and settled for a kick to tie the game:
The Chiefs responded with a field goal, which proved the difference after Dalton Kincaid failed to nab a deep pass from Allen. They then drove past the 30 to end the game.
