The New York Jets and Buffalo Bills met on Monday Night Football, vying for the top spot in the AFC East.
The Jets needed to show that they were better than what they had produced over the past few weeks, which led to the dismissal of coach Robert Saleh by owner Woody Johnson. With Aaron Rodgers under fire, an interim head coach, and a new offensive coordinator, New York was up against it.
The Bills, meanwhile, needed to prove that they were legitimate Super Bowl contenders after losses to the Ravens and Texans in the past two weeks.
Ultimately, Buffalo edged a close contest 23-20 to cement its status atop the AFC East.

Bills vs. Jets game summary
The Jets opened the scoring with a field goal on their first drive, but Josh Allen gave his team the head with a quarterback sneak. Aaron Rodgers found Garrett Wilson for New York's first TD.
The Bills came out strong in the second quarter and scored touchdowns on back-to-back drives. The score would have been even more lopsided if it had not been for a missed conversion.
With the score 20-10 in favor of Buffalo, New York needed some magic and Aaron Rodgers reminded us why he is a surefire future Hall-of-Famer. He threw a Hail Mary to Allen Lazard to reduce the deficit to 20-17 heading into halftime.
The second half was a story of multiple penalties and the wind playing havoc with the kickers. New York made a field goal after Buffalo missed one to begin the half to tie the scores. However, Jets kicker Greg Zuerlein missed a kick of his own, leaving the scores tied at 20 heading into the fourth.
Tyler Bass converted his attempt to give the Bills a 23-20 lead. With the clock showing less than two minutes, Aaron Rodgers tried the spectacular one more time but was intercepted to give the ball back to Buffalo. Josh Allen scampered for a first down on a third-and-four to seal the deal and get the Bills back on track.
The Bills improved to 4-2 after six weeks and are at least two games ahead of their divisional counterparts, all of whom have a losing record.
For the Jets, firing the head coach and changing the offensive coordinator improved some aspects of the game but they still ended up with a loss to finish 2-4 after Week 6 of the 2024 NFL season.
