During the Super Bowl era, no rookie has ever won the NFL MVP. However, there's no rule in place that states a rookie shouldn't win one.

In fact, only 15 rookies have earned a vote since Jim Brown won the award in his debut season in 1957. This development has made people wonder if rookies are even eligible to win the most coveted individual award in the league.

Even though many rookies have joined the NFL and quickly made an impression, they are rarely considered when choosing the MVP.

It took Payton Manning six seasons with the Indianapolis Colts to receive his first MVP honor. He ended up winning five MVPs. Also, it wasn't until his seventh season as a starter that Tom Brady, who won three championships in his first four years in the league, took home his first MVP award. He ultimately finished his career with three.

While there's no rule against rookies winning the highly-prestigious award, one could argue that it's highly improbable as the best quarterbacks are drafting into rebuilding teams and thus don't get that many wins. However, there are exceptions, as evidenced by Jayden Daniels this season.

Can Jayden Daniels win the MVP this season?

Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels is one of the league's most intriguing players in a season full of memorable feats.

Despite still being in his first year, the former LSU star catapulted himself into the running for MVP, which is uncommon for rookies. For Washington, Daniels' quick ascent has changed everything and given new life to a team that has long lacked stability.

Daniels, who is also a very good rusher, has been a key component of the Commanders' playoff success. He ranks among the league's most efficient quarterbacks and passed for over 3,500 yards and 25 touchdowns in the regular season.

The 24-year-old star has proven to be a leader in pivotal situations, as evidenced by the Commanders' 12–5 regular season record, which is their best record since 1991. His ability to perform well under pressure has also been a major contributor to the team's resurgence.

Even though Jayden Daniels is unlikely to win MVP in his first season, his performances have solidified his place among the league's most promising young players.
