Cardinals starting QB tonight: Is Kyler Murray playing in Week 15 vs. Denver Broncos?

New England Patriots v Arizona Cardinals
New England Patriots vs. Arizona Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals head into their week 15 matchup against the Denver Broncos with a dire 4-9 record. This record sees them virtually eliminated from the playoff picture for the 2022 NFL season.

Arizona faithful would, no doubt, be disappointed by these happenstances, as their 2021 off-season promised so much. Their front office had just extended Kyler Murray's contract. They had a dynamic wide receiver room and a perennial Pro Bowler at tight end in Zach Ertz. However, the 2022 NFL season promised so much is guaranteed to end in a nightmare.

To make matters worse, starting quarterback Kyler Murray suffered an ACL tear in Week 14's 27-13 loss to the New England Patriots. The Oklahoma State University alum is thus guaranteed to undergo surgery on the ACL, and no one knows when he'll be back. Worse still, Murray's signature scrambling will be affected once he's back from the injury.

Who is the Cardinals' starting QB tonight vs. Denver Broncos in week 15?

Due to Kyler Murray's unfortunate injury, Colt McCoy is expected to start for the Cardinals until the end of the season.

McCoy is a journeyman quarterback who has been in and around the league since the 2010 NFL season. He has played in over ten games in a season only once in his NFL career, which happened to be in his second season with the Browns, and he has been a backup ever since.

Arizona signed McCoy in 2021 to act as a safety blanket for Kyler Murray, and he has done that. He will be playing in his fourth game of the 2022 season at the Denver Broncos, who are also without their starting quarterback, Russell Wilson.

How is Colt McCoy performing this season?

Colt McCoy has had an average 2022 season as a backup to Kyler Murray on the Arizona Cardinals. He has utilized this role since he signed with Arizona heading into the 2021 NFL season. He will likely play in the remainder of the Cardinals' games for the season.

McCoy is putting up a stat line of 702 passing yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions in three games played this season.
