CeeDee Lamb and the Dallas Cowboys produced a valiant effort on Sunday, with the visitors almost completing an impressive comeback against the San Francisco 49ers during Week 8's Sunday Night Football. The wide receiver was a big part of the Cowboys' game plan.

Although Dallas was leading at halftime, the adjustments made by Kyle Shanahan worked great in the second half, as the 49ers scored 21 points in the third quarter to jump to a 27-10 lead. They would still take the fight until the end, with two touchdowns in quick succession leading to one last drive with the ball, but they were unable to finish the job.

A tough start to the season had the wide receiver not reaching the 100-yard mark until Week 8. So let's see how Lamb played on Sunday night.

Not only the wide receiver finally broke the 100-yard mark in 2024, but he was also the only player who had more than 50 receiving yards for Dallas during the game. In a contest where Dak Prescott once again was inconsistent, throwing two touchdowns and two interceptions, his best wide receiver had an excellent game.

The lack of options for the passing offense made Lamb the player with the highest target share of the game, as 17 of Prescott's 38 passes (44.7%) were thrown in his direction. The next player, tight end Jake Ferguson, had eight targets. And he finished the game with just six catches for 23 yards.

He was also able to find the end zone completely free two times, which were breakdowns from the 49ers' secondary. Still, the fact that he was able to catch 76.4% of the throws made to him shows how difficult it was for San Francisco to cover him throughout the game.

Although they lost a close game against a strong opponent, this was a difficult week for the Cowboys. Both the Washington Commanders (6-2) and the Philadelphia Eagles (5-2) won their games, and the fight for the NFC East is even tougher now, as they sit with a 3-4 record.
