Chase Brown did not start the 2024 season as the starter running back for the Cincinnati Bengals, with Zack Moss leading the backfield. However, Moss' injury and poor performances led to Brown, a fifth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, earning more snaps as the season went on.

He has done an admirable job, even if Cincinnati's season has not panned out as expected. In a game where Tee Higgins had just five targets and two receptions, Cincinnati had to find other ways to move the chains. With a player who crossed the 1,000-yard mark in total yards for the first time in his career, the Bengals knew they could count on Brown.

With Zack Moss signed on a two-year contract but just $1.5 million in guarantees for his second season, it's likely that he'll keep the RB1 spot for next season. As a player drafted in 2023, he's contractually tied to the Bengals until after the 2026 season.

Finding cheap, useful players is the biggest challenge for every NFL franchise, and Cincinnati will have to spend in the offseason with Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and Trey Hendrickson all free agents. At least the young running back will remain on the roster on a good contract for the team.
