Chris Conley injury update: Should fantasy managers be concerned about 49ers WR for Fantasy Football Week 6?

Chris Conley is a veteran wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers. Due to the 49ers' well-documented injury issues, Conley stepped up at various points in the 2024 season.

Let's examine Conley's availability ahead of the team's Week 6 game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Chris Conley's injury update

According to CBS Sports, Chris Conley was a limited participant in Tuesday's practice session due to an oblique injury. Conley started the week with a DNP designation on Monday, but he participated in Tuesday's practice in a limited capacity.

The 49ers have an array of backup-caliber wide receivers in case Conley isn't fit enough to go in Week 6. The likes of Jacob Cowing and Ronnie Bell are fit and ready to step up at short notice.

Conley's fantasy football managers should be concerned about the 49ers wide receiver. He is not a starter nor a priority backup. It'll be better to drop him and pick up a higher-priority backup via the waiver wire.

How has Chris Conley performed this season?

Chris Conley has registered one catch (on three targets) for 4 receiving yards in four regular-season games. The veteran pass catcher has served in a backup role through 2024 but is well-placed to step up when needed for Kyle Shanahan's side.

The San Francisco 49ers need all the wide receiver help that they can get, as they've had a less-than-ideal start to the 2024 NFL season. The beaten Super Bowl LVIII finalists have lost three of their first five games.

They were defeated by the Minnesota Vikings, Los Angeles Rams and most recently, the Arizona Cardinals. Their sole two wins have come against the New York Jets and New England Patriots.

A reason for the 49ers' patchy form is their dismal luck with injuries. Superstar running back Christian McCaffrey hasn't played this year due to Achilles issues, and Pro Bowlers Deebo Samuel and George Kittle have both missed time due to niggling injuries.

Coach Kyle Shanahan will hope that the major injuries are behind his side as it is up against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 6 before a Super Bowl rematch against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7.
