Rod Christopher Godwin Jr is a professional American football wide receiver for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFL, as of 2024. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers drafted Godwin with the 84th pick in the third round of the 2017 NFL draft. Godwin had 34 receptions for 525 yards and one touchdown at the end of his first season with the Buccaneers. With a strong start to the following season, Godwin concluded the season with seven touchdowns and 59 receptions for 842 yards. During the 2019 season, Godwin was named to his first Pro Bowl. In 12 games during the 2020 season, Godwin hauled up 65 passes for 840 yards and seven touchdowns. Godwin’s 2021 season ended after he sustained a ligament injury. In 2022 Godwin extended his contract with the Buccaneers for an additional three years. By the end of the 2023 season, Godwin had recorded 83 receptions for 1024 yards and two touchdowns.
Godwin played collegiate football at Pennsylvania State University where during his freshman season, Godwin recorded 26 receptions for 338 yards, yet during his sophomore year, Godwin showed himself as a top wide receiver, with 1,101 yards along with five touchdowns. During his junior season, Godwin received AP All-Bowl team honors and he was named to the All-Big Ten third team and recorded 11 touchdowns. Following his junior season, Godwin declared that he would forgo his final year to enter the NFL draft of 2017. Before playing collegiate football, Godwin played high school football at Middletown High School in Delaware where Godwin received the Delaware Gatorade Player of the Year his senior season.
