Rod Christopher Godwin Jr. is a professional American football player who plays as a wide receiver for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFL, as of 2024. Godwin was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the 84th pick in the third round of the 2017 NFL draft. By the end of his first season with the Bucs, Godwin had caught 34 passes for 525 yards and one touchdown. Godwin had a great start to the next season, finishing with 59 receptions for 842 yards and seven touchdowns. Godwin was named to his first Pro Bowl in the 2019 season, following that, Godwin hauled up 65 passes for 840 yards and seven touchdowns in 12 games in the 2020 season. Godwin had a ligament injury that halted his 2021 campaign. Godwin signed a three-year contract extension with the Buccaneers in 2022. Godwin had 83 receptions for 1024 yards and two scores by the end of the 2023 campaign. After playing in seven games and accumulating 576 receiving yards in 2024, Godwin suffered a season-ending ankle injury in week 7 against the Baltimore Ravens.

Godwin played NCAA football for Pennsylvania State University, where he had 26 receptions for 338 yards in his freshman year. However, in his sophomore year, Godwin established himself as a top wide receiver with 1,101 yards and five touchdowns. Godwin recorded 11 touchdowns in his junior season, was selected to the All-Big Ten third team, and was nominated to the AP All-Bowl team. Godwin announced after his junior year that 2017 would be his last year and that he would enter the NFL draft. Godwin played high school football at Middletown High School in Delaware before attending college, where he won the Delaware Gatorade Player of the Year award in his last season.
