Chris Olave joined the New Orleans Saints in 2022 as one of the most desirable rookie wide receivers to own in fantasy football. He had an excellent college football career with the Ohio State Buckeyes and demonstrated massive upside with his elite playmaking abilities. His skill set has translated well to the NFL so far, making him one of the top fantasy receivers.

In each of his two years with the Saints, Olave has finished among the top 25 overall fantasy football wide receivers in season-long scoring. He turned in a solid rookie season in his first year, totaling 72 receptions on 119 targets for 1,042 yards and four touchdowns. He immediately established himself as a reliable fantasy option and took another step forward in his second season.

Olave increased his output in all four categories in his second year, improving his receiving numbers to 87 receptions on 138 targets for 1,123 yards and five touchdowns. The Saints upgrading their quarterback position by adding Derek Carr likely had something to do with it, but his elite talent also seems to be developing.

With another offseason to develop his chemistry with Carr as well as improve his overall game, Olave will once again be an attractive option in fantasy drafts.

Is Chris Olave a good pick in Fantasy Football this year?

Chris Olave increased his output with the New Orleans Saints in his second year as compared to his solid rookie season. This also resulted in a better season-long finish in fantasy football. He ended his rookie season as the overall WR25 and improved to the overall WR19 in his second year. It's reasonable to expect an even better ranking at the end of the 2024 NFL season.

Many quarterbacks improve in their second season in a new offensive system, so if Derek Carr can do so, Olave will likely benefit even further from it. He is clearly the top option in the Saints' passing game, leading all players last year by a significant margin. The team declined to make any significant additions to the position, so Olave's workload seems to be safe.

It's also possible that the star wide receiver sees even more targets this season after the Saints parted ways with Michael Thomas during the offseason. More targets are theoretically available and Olave is one of the top candidates to receive them.

All of this equates to Olave being an excellent wide receiver to target in fantasy football drafts for the upcoming 2024 season. He has already finished in the range of a fantasy WR2 in his first two seasons, but given his full outlook this year, he could emerge as a WR1.

In terms of his current ADP, Olave ranks as the 23rd overall player and 12th wide receiver to target in drafts this year. This means that managers looking to select him will likely need to do so in the second or third rounds of their drafts, depending upon the league settings.
