Chris Olave is the primary receiver for the New Orleans Saints. The wide receiver has been a perennial 1,000 receiving yards-threat since he was drafted in the first round of the 2021 NFL draft.
Ahead of Week 8, let's examine Olave's availability for the game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Olave was unable to play in last Thursday's loss against the Denver Broncos, and he gained full clearance, which includes an evaluation from an independent neurologist, to suit up on Sunday versus the Chargers.
Olave's injury leaves Mason Tipton, Cedrick Wilson Jr., Bub Means, and the recently added Marquez Valdes-Scantling as the only fit wide receivers on the Saints' active roster due to Rashid Shaheed's season-ending knee surgery. It will be interesting to see how the franchise handles the precarious injury situation in the upcoming week.
How has Chris Olave performed this season?
Chris Olave was having an average season, as opposed to his previously demonstrated high standards, before suffering a concussion against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Ohio State Buckeyes graduate had amassed a stat line of 23 catches, 280 receiving yards, and one touchdown in six games. He did enjoy a solid three-game stretch during which he went over 80 receiving yards in each game, but that was followed by two days where he failed to go over 10 receiving yards. Saints fans hope that Olave can clear the concussion protocol as soon as possible and rejoin the team.
As for the franchise, the Saints are currently on a five-game losing streak. The team hasn't recorded a victory since Week 2 against the Dallas Cowboys, and playoff hopes are hanging by a thread. The next four games are against the Chargers, Carolina Panthers, Atlanta Falcons and Cleveland Browns. Those games could make or break playoff potential, even before the team enters a bye in Week 12.
