Christian Jackson McCaffrey, commonly known as Christian McCaffrey, is an American football running back for the San Francisco 49ers of the NFL. Before joining the 49ers, the 2022 NFL Offensive Player of the Year spent his initial NFL seasons with the Carolina Panthers from 2017 to 2022. McCaffrey was born in Castle Rock, Colorado, to an athlete couple. He initially attended Regis Jesuit High School in Aurora and then transferred to Valor Christian High School where he emerged as a star player, breaking several high school records. Additionally, he bagged the title of the Gatorade Football Player of the Year for Colorado consecutively in 2012 and 2013. He showcased his brilliance beyond the football field, excelling in basketball and track & field as an outstanding sprinter.

Rated as a four-star recruit by Rivals.com, McCaffrey committed to playing college football at Stanford University. Following his collegiate career, he was selected as the eighth overall pick in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers. He has displayed stellar performances throughout his NFL career both on the ground and through the air. As of Week 10 of the 2024 season, the two-time First-team All-Pro has 6,224 rushing yards and 4,388 receiving yards.

Christian McCaffrey College

McCaffrey attended Stanford University and played college football for the Stanford Cardinal football team from 2014 to 2016. As a freshman in 2014, he accumulated 300 rushing yards from 43 carries and 251 receiving yards through 17 receptions, resulting in a total of two touchdowns. He wrapped up the 2015 season with an impressive total of 2,019 rushing yards and gained 645 receiving yards through 45 receptions, and 5 touchdowns. Notably, he set a NCAA record with 3,864 all-purpose yards in a single season. His 2015 season was marked with several awards and achievements, including earning the Consensus All-American honor, Associated Press College Football Player of the Year, and Pac-12 Player of the Year, as well as clinching the Paul Hornung Award and the Jet Award.

During his last year at Stanford, he recorded a single-game rushing record with 284 rushing yards against the California Golden Bears. Additionally, he secured a spot on the 2016 All-Pac-12 first-team and won the title of the CoSIDA All-American of the Year. Eventually, while preparing for the 2017 NFL Draft, he opted out from playing in the Sun Bowl game against the North Carolina Tar Heels, concluding his collegiate career.
