Canada-born running back Chuba Robert-Shamar Hubbard was drafted in the fourth round (126th pick) of the 2021 NFL Draft. In his rookie year with the Carolina Panthers, he started 10 games playing in all 17 of the regular season. Hubbard rushed for 612 yards on 172 attempts that season. In his three years in the NFL, Hubbard has appeared in 49 games rushing 1,980 yards and scoring 12 touchdowns. Hubbard started by playing Canadian football at Bev Facey Community High School. He was part of the national team that beat the United States 42-0 in the 2015 Under-15 International Bowl. Hubbard ended up with 6,880 yards on 458 attempts and he was named the No. 1 Player in Canada by ESPN and 247Sports. Being rated as a four-star prospect he was also a three-time 100m national champion in high school.
Hubbard chose to attend Oklahoma State to play college football having received offers from Texas A&M, Georgia, Alabama, and a few more. Being redshirted in 2017, he began his college career averaging 106.3 rushing yards in 2018. Hubbard had a breakout season in 2019 as he completed 1000 rushing yards in just six games (12th fastest in FBS history). He was honored with All-American without a doubt, Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year, Walter Camp Player of the Year Award finalist, and one of three national finalists for the Doak Walker Award, which is given to the best running back in the country in 2019. He also finished in the 2020 First Team Academic All-Big 12 in his junior year before registering for the NFL Draft.
