Chauncey "C.J." Gardner-Johnson is a professional American football safety for the Philadelphia Eagles as of the 2024 NFL season. The New Orleans Saints selected Gardner-Johnson with the 105th overall pick in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL draft. Gardner-Johnson recorded his first interception against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 13 of the 2019 NFL season. He finished his rookie season with one interception, one forced fumble, and 49 tackles. Gardner-Johnson finished the following season with one sack, one interception, and 66 tackles. In 2021, he started 7 games but then was placed on the injured reserve. The Cocoa native played collegiate football for the University of Florida. As a freshman, Gardner-Johnson played all the games and was named the MVP of the Outback Bowl. The following season, he started in all 11 games and finished the season with a total of 58 tackles. During his junior season, he totaled 71 tackles and declared that he would enter the NFL draft after the season and forgo his senior year.
