The second-season signal caller was drafted second overall by the Houston Texans in the 2023 NFL draft. Stroud’s arrival changed the fortunes of the Texans franchise as the team, which had just entered the rebuild phase, went on to win the AFC South with a 10-7 record. He not only made it to the PFWA All-Rookie Team but also received the 2023 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award. The 2023 Pro Bowl honoree led the Texans to their second consecutive divisional title in the 2024 NFL season.

Inland Valley Daily Bulletin named him Offensive Player of the Year after he passed for 3,878 yards and 47 touchdowns in his senior year. After completing his schooling, Texans No. 7 committed to Ohio State, where he played for the Bulldogs from 2020 to 2022. After getting redshirted in his true freshman season in 2019, Stroud played 25 games in the next two years, passing for more than 8,000 yards in that span, as recorded by Sports Reference.
