Colt Mccoy is an American footballer who plays as a quarterback in the National Football League (NFL). Mccoy's career began in the year 2010 when he was selected by the Cleveland Browns in the third round as the 85th overall pick of the NFL draft 2010.
He signed a deal of five years worth $4 million with the Cleveland Browns. In a game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, he made his NFL debut in which in the following match he recorded 23 of 33 passes for 281 yards, a touchdown, and two interceptions. In the 2011 season, he performed as a starter for the Browns and in the opener game against the Cincinnati Bengals, he completed 19 of 40 attempts for 213 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. McCoy spent the complete 2012 season backing up Brandon Weeden.
In the 2013 season, the Browns traded Mccoy to the San Francisco 49ers, and in 2014 he signed a deal with the Washington Redskins. In the 2015 season, Mccoy re-signed with the Redskins and spent the season as a backup. In the 2016 season, he signed a new contract extension deal for three years with the Redskins. During Week 5 of the 2019 season in a game against the New England Patriots, he played as a quarterback where in the following sport he threw for 122 yards and one interception.
In the 2020 season, he signed a deal with the New York Giants and in a match against the Cincinnati Bengals, he made his team debut. He then signed a deal of one year with the Arizona Cardinals for the 2021 season and was named the starter for the game against the San Francisco 49ers, where in the following game he completed 22 out of 26 passes with one touchdown as the Cardinals won 31–17. In 2022, he signed a deal for two more years with the Cardinals.
