In the former of those years, he also won the Walter Payton Award, given to the best offensive player in the league.
The Los Angeles Rams selected Kupp in the third round of the 2017 NFL draft, widely considered a steal at the position. After making the All-Rookie team in his first season, his next three were spent largely uneventful with injuries and solid performances aplenty. However, all of that was about to change.
His performance in the 2021 season still remains one of the greatest statistical seasons in NFL history. Since Steve Smith, senior in 2005 no player had won the receiving triple crown which meant leading the league in reception receiving, and receiving yards. These numbers were jaw-dropping as his 1,947 yards finished second in NFL history, while his 145 receptions were also second in NFL history. Yet that wasn't all she wrote for the season.
