Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay ruled out Cooper Kupp for Week 5 on Monday, so fantasy managers should not expect to see the WR against the Green Bay Packers.

The standout wide receiver hasn't played since suffering an ankle injury during a game against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 2. Despite this, the Rams have refused to put him on the injured reserve list, which would have forced him to sit out four games.

Kupp had an impressive 18 receptions for 147 yards and a touchdown in his first two outings this season before the injury. The wideout's rapport on the field with quarterback Matthew Stafford appeared to be at its strongest, but it has now been temporarily interrupted by an ankle injury.

Fantasy managers shouldn't expect Kupp to return to in-game action until he resumes his practice regimen.

The Rams also lost Pro Bowl wide receiver Puka Nacua to a PCL injury in the opening game of the season. They have already put him on injured reserve, with a comeback date expected to be around Week 9, according to reports.

Cooper Kupp injury: When could Rams WR return to the field?

The Los Angeles Rams haven't provided a date for Cooper Kupp's return. However, given recent developments, we can infer a likely return timeline for the 2021 NFL Offensive Player of the Year Award winner.

The Rams have chosen to hold Kupp out of Week 5, hoping he might be ready to return following the Week 6 bye with additional time to heal.

The Rams are scheduled to play the Green Bay Packers in Week 5 before their bye week. They will then meet the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 7 and the Minnesota Vikings in Week 8. Given that Kupp was kept off the injured reserve list by the Rams, it is likely he won't miss more than three games, which means he has a good chance of playing against the Raiders.

Regarding Cooper Kupp's potential comeback, Sean McVay told reporters last week:

"He's going to do everything in his power to get back. Whenever that is, we'll be excited about that and happy for him.”

The Rams (1-3) will continue to depend on wideouts Tutu Atwell, Demarcus Robinson and Tyler Johnson to fill in for Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua.

Tight end Colby Parkinson and running back Kyren Williams will probably continue to see more targets as long as Kupp and Nacua are sidelined.
