Rayne Dakota Prescott, better known as Dak Prescott, is an American football quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys as of the 2024 NFL season. The Cowboys selected him with the 135th overall pick in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. After captivating spectators with his exceptional talent and expertise, he has become a household name. Over his eight-season NFL career, he has exclusively played for the Cowboys and made appearances in the Pro Bowl thrice. With an extensive list of NFL and franchise records, he has solidified a strong foothold in the league. He also received the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award in 2022.
He was born in Sulphur, Louisiana, on 29 July 1993, as the youngest child of his parents, Nathaniel and Peggy Prescott. Prescott played football for the Buccaneers while attending Haughton High School in Haughton, Louisiana. He completed 159 out of 258 passes as a senior, totaling 2,860 yards and 39 touchdowns. Furthermore, he led Haughton to victory in the 2010 District 1-AAAA Championship after rushing for 951 yards on 90 attempts with 17 touchdowns. After high school, as a three-star recruit, he chose to play at Mississippi State University, declining scholarship offers from other universities.
Dak Prescott's College
Prescott attended Mississippi State University and committed to playing college football for the Mississippi State Bulldogs, where he played from 2011 to 2015. During his time at Mississippi State, he accumulated numerous accolades and achievements. Some of his achievements include the 2013 Liberty Bowl MVP, 2015 SEC Offensive Player of the Week, 2015 Belk Bowl MVP, 2014 and 2015 Conerly Trophy, 2016 Senior Bowl Most Outstanding Player, and 2015 Senior Class Award, among many others (according to the official website of university).
Additionally, he secured first-team All-SEC honors consecutively in 2014 and 2015. Setting 38 school records (15 Career, 15 Single-Season, 8 Single-Game), he finished his collegiate career with 9,376 passing yards, 70 passing touchdowns, 2,521 rushing yards and an additional 41 rushing touchdowns.
