Rayne Dakota Prescott is an American football quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys as of 2024. The former fourth-round pick from the 2016 NFL draft has played 8 seasons in the league as of 2024. The 6 ft 2 in signal caller attended Haughton High School in Haughton, Louisiana where he played for the Buccaneers. Prescott led Haughton to become 2010 District 1-AAAA champions on the back of a senior year performance where he threw for more than 2,800 yards and added 951 yards on the ground along with scoring 56 total touchdowns. The former 3-star recruit coming out of high school went to Mississippi State University, where he played for 5 years, from 2011 to 2015. The Sulphur native after getting redshirted his true freshman season in 2011, went on to start every game for the Bulldogs in the next four years The 3-time pro bowler finished his collegiate career by passing for more than 9,300 yards while simultaneously racking up 2,521 yards on the ground alongside scoring 111 total touchdowns. Prescott’s start in the league was a bit different than other superstars at his position due to him being drafted in the 4th round. However, Tony Romo’s injury in the 2016 preseason opened the doors for Prescott and he ran away with it. His play while earning him a spot on the PFWA All-Rookie team in 2016, also bagged him the 2016 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award. The 2022 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year has three seasons with 4,000 passing yards under his belt. Prescott's best seasons came in 2021 and 2023 where he recorded 37 and 36 passing touchdowns respectively. As good as his regular season record has been (73-41) by the end of the 2023 season, his 2-5 record in the playoffs leaves a lot to be desired.
